2013 has drawn to a close as a very successful year for VMSC and I hope you had a much fun as I did. I gauge this success on the high turnouts and happy faces we had at our events this year. It was also successful financially in that we are able to upgrade our computer and timing gear. I hope to see all of you coming out in the new year to make 2014 just as great.
Our 2014 dates have been confirmed with Western Speedway and will be published to the website shortly. In the meantime, get your sights focused on the first Autoslalom of the season on January 19. Yes, that’s right, it’s in less than three weeks. Hopefully you’ll have had enough time to bolt on those new parts you got for Christmas.
There will be new car classes for 2014 so the first event results may take a bit longer to sort through to get a final result. This will not affect the day of racing but we will need to get you all to look at the new classes so you can help us out on where your car is now classed. The new classes will affect the stock classes the most so please take a look at this link and see if the new rules apply to you.

We purchased new wireless timing gear which includes start and finish sensors and a wireless display. This will also give us more flexibility on course designs which has, in the past, been limited to cable runs from the start and finish sensors. We can combine this with our current display so it’ll be easier to see your time once you cross this finish. We also hope to be able to display times to others at the track to get everyone more involved. In addition, we want to be able to give everyone at the track more information on the cars running, the drivers and their placement in the event. We were able to borrow the Speedways’s mike and PA for the final event last season and had very positive feedback on the announcing. So, for 2014 we hope to have the PA system available for all our events.
